Socially, the Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron welcomes its members and guests to visit and enjoy the great hospitality on offer at our bayside venue.

The Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron is the perfect venue for social events and functions including weddings, engagements, cocktail parties, and other private functions. We have flexible plans available to suit your specific requirements for your special occasion.

History

In 1959 Ian Smith, Stan Kirkby, Bill Down and Brian Rea sought to establish a new organisation aiming to promote boating, both power and sail in Beaumaris Bay. They became the four founders of what is today the Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron.

With ambitious plans and considerable foresight and a membership of over 100 by end of 1960 the fledgling Club tackled the substantial reclamation issues and the building of seawalls.

Around 4 acres was reclaimed from the sea by the end of 1962. In 1963 the Squadron was successful in obtaining a permit to erect a Clubhouse and had a membership of over 200.

From that challenging beginning, the Club has continued to prosper and develop. Voluntary contributions from its membership have been pivotal to its ongoing success.

In its early days, the Club commenced a volunteer Coast Guard Patrol which was involved in several successful rescues of disabled and capsized boats. This endeavour raised the profile of the young club and assisted in its dealings with authorities concerned with its development.

The Club continues to be located on leased crown land.  It has been built and funded by the members who have generously volunteered their time.

This is the foundation upon which the Club is based and a proud tradition that still exists today.
