Saturday night (11th May) was remarkable when we experienced a rare phenomenon of the aurora being widely visible across southern Australia.
We were all starstruck by the beauty of the aurora (no pun intended). Seeing these lights are on many people's bucket list, and normally involves careful planning and travel to get to a location where the phenomenon is more common. Instead, it happened in our backyard.
Club member Michael Carter-Key took some beautiful pictures around the Club and nearby and they are shared here. Thanks, Michael for providing these.
A photograph by Club member Brian Willis of people out on the water's edge at Ricketts Point and viewing the sparkle of the aurora at 12.30 am Sunday has been added to the gallery.
