In 2006 Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron hosted the first annual Able Day on the Bay for a group of people with varying degrees of deafness and blindness disabilities from Able Australia.
Able Australia is a diverse not-for-profit organisation offering a broad range of disability services for adults and community supports for seniors.
We are proud to say that Thursday, 22nd June 2023 was the 11th occasion that BMYS has hosted this great event. It was good to get the event up and running again after an extended break mainly due to Covid restrictions. Thanks to former Commodore David Bell for his efforts in arranging for the Club to host this event again in 2023.
We had a perfect day weatherwise and could make full use of our boats crewed by Club members. Accompanied by their carers Able Australia clients visiting BMYS were able to experience a great boat ride or two on the Bay.
We were pleased to have some beautiful vintage cars which provided joy rides around Beaumaris. Thanks to Club members John Humphris, Simon Bartaby and Gary Tradargh for their support in providing their cars and arranging this activity.
Lunch was served in the downstairs Sports Bar for all those taking part in the day, which included the Club volunteers.
Our special thanks to Club members who generously supported a very successful and proud day for BMYS.
